paramountParamount Café will unveil Denver’s latest urban wall art at this weekend’s Meet in the Street, 16th Street Mall’s summer celebration of all things Downtown Denver. Commissioned by the restaurant, in collaboration with design company Ink Monstr, the Downtown Denver Partnership, the Kittredge and Masonic Buildings, and Breckenridge Brewery, the massive mural is intended to draw visitors and locals to the area and beautify the alley between Glenarm and Welton on 16th Street.

Paramount Café and sister restaurant Marlowe’s, both located between the two streets, are longstanding restaurants in Downtown Denver. Locally owned and operated for nearly 35 years, owner John Ott said of the restaurants, “we attest our longevity to always exceeding our guest’s expectations by providing friendly and sincere service and an exceptional experience. This mural is a way to give some art to the community and keep our area fresh and top of mind.”

Both restaurants have been instrumental in the organization of Denver’s third annual Meet in the Street. Meet in the Street, presented by DaVita and produced by the Downtown Denver Partnership and the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District, is Denver’s opportunity to reimagine the 16th Street Mall by experiencing it in new and exciting ways. The five weekend event, beginning June 25th and June 26th, will feature more than 10 expanded patio cafes, fitness classes, arts and cultural programming, live music and more. The RTD FreeMall Ride shuttle service will be relocated to 15th and 17th Streets throughout the event weekends.

Tami Door, CEO and President for the Downtown Denver Partnership, thanked the Paramount Café and John Ott for their contribution to Meet in the Street. “This is an excellent example of a private business helping to make a public space more vibrant and economically vital. These two restaurants enthusiastically came up with unique ways to engage their customers and the community at large in this process,” said Door.

“This has been our home for 34 years and we feel a deep commitment to providing a healthy downtown space, keeping it vibrant and current. We invite all of our friends and neighbors to join us for the grand unveiling,” added Ott.

The mural unveiling is scheduled for 3pm Friday June 24th at 519 16th Street. Meet in the Street runs for 5 consecutive weekends beginning June 25th and ending July 24th on the 16th Street Mall from Civic Center to Union Station in Downtown Denver.
