La Residence Hue Hotel & Spa has won a coveted spot in the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers Choice Awards, placing No. 13 on a list of the top hotels in Southeast Asia.

Announced in New York on Oct. 20, the results of Conde Nast Traveler’s 28th annual survey placed just four hotels in Vietnam on the travel magazine’s list of top hospitality properties.

This is the second consecutive appearance for the hotel in the Readers’ Choice Awards; last year, the hotel debuted on the list at No. 19.

The Readers’ Choice Awards and Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards are widely considered to be the two most important awards lists for hotels worldwide.

At the same time La Residence is winning favor at Condé Nast, the hotel is also building a reputation at Travel + Leisure. In Dec. 2013 and Dec. 2014, La Residence was named to the T+L list — again, one of only four hotels named to this exclusive compendium.

“The awards that matter most to us are founded on evaluations made by guests who’ve actually stayed at the hotel,” said Phan Trong Minh, general manager of La Residence. “Nothing validates the work we do like great guest feedback.”

More than 128,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers took part in this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards — the most in its 28-year history, and up more than 50,000 from last year. Voting is conducted through a secure website, with responses tabulated by Equation Research. Readers evaluate candidates on a set of criteria using a standard five-point scale.

About La Residence Hue Hotel & Spa – MGallery Collection
Set on a two-hectare site with 200 meters of frontage on the fabled Perfume River, La Residence celebrated its grand opening in December 2005 after a painstaking restoration of the 1930-built mansion. The hotel’s distinctive bowed façade, its long horizontal lines and nautical flourishes are hallmarks of the streamline moderne school of art deco architecture.

The hotel’s 122 rooms and suites, restaurants, lounges, bars and conference room are tricked out in complementary art-deco furnishings and décor that evoke both the 1920s and 1950s. The hotel’s fine-dining venue, Le Parfum, serves Mediterranean and French cuisine, as well as dishes from an expansive Vietnamese menu.
