Back-to-school can be an expensive struggle for most families to outfit kids with school supplies and new clothes. This struggle is even more so for those living at a shelter.

This is why Chin Chin Café & Sushi Bar at New York-New York Hotel & Casino has teamed up with Las Vegas Fire and Rescue to provide some back-to-school essentials for the children of The Shade Tree Shelter. Backpacks filled with school supplies and a $25 Walmart gift card for back to school clothes will be given to all the kids as well as lunch at Chin Chin for the kids and their mothers. Members of the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue team will also be bringing along a fire truck for the kids to explore and take pictures with.

The coordinated effort from the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue team, Chin Chin Café & Sushi Bar and New York-New York Hotel & Casino is in support of The Shade Tree Shelter that provides safe refuge to physically abused and homeless women and children. The Shade Tree is the largest shelter of its kind in Nevada and is the only 24-hour accessible shelter designed specifically to meet the needs of women and children in Southern Nevada.

“The Shade Tree Shelter does so much good in our community and we wanted to do our part to help,” says Ken Bernard, President of Chin Chin Restaurant Group. “We are honored to be able to contribute to initiatives such as this and are grateful for the continued support of New York-New York Hotel & Casino and the assistance of the heroes of the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue team.”

The event takes place on August 19, 2015 at Chin Chin Café & Sushi Bar at New York-New York Hotel & Casino.
